The Manitoba Colleges Athletics Conference (MCAC) Futsal Championships provided an action-packed weekend at Providence University College.

RED RIVER WOMENs CHAMPS

It was a big day for Red River College Rebels as both the men and women's futsal teams won the 2017 championship.

In a tightly defended women's final, the #1 Rebels blanked the #2 Canadian Mennonite University Blazers 2-0.

The Rebels were the best defensive team all season, and they showed it again by only allowing one goal in the two games they played.

CMU defeated their rivals from Providence 6-4 to set up the final against the Rebels.

On the men's side, not even a raucous Providence crowd could stop the Rebels from winning the Copa de la Paz (Peace Cup).

#3 Red River defeated the #4 Providence Pilots 6-4 in the final.

The Rebels upset the #2 Brandon University Bobcats 6-5, while Providence shocked their rivals, the #1 CMU Blazers, by a score of 6-5 in their semi-final.
