On July 18, 2023, Rick passed away at the age of 70 with his wife and daughters at his side at St. Boniface Hospital. Leaving to mourn wife Gloria, daughter Alana (Jody), Candice (Cory), Krystal (Pat). Seven grandkids – Phoenix (Shannon), Sage (Ben), Acoyen, Rhett, Carrera, Ocean and Dublin. Mother Shirley and Sister Kathi (Bev).
Rick was born November 19th, 1952, to Charlie and Shirley McElroy of Darlingford Manitoba. Rick attended his elementary years at the Darlingford school, senior years at Nellie McClung, and post secondary at South Winnipeg Technical College.
Rick co-owned Bell’s Plumbing + Heating with his uncle, Morris Kinsman and finished his career at Rana Medical. Rick excelled at anything he did and was always willing to give a helping hand.
Rick had a passion for sports and was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan. If he was not watching sports on TV, he was present watching his seven grandkids. Rick’s hobbies were golfing, curling, fishing, snowmobiling and making homemade wine.
When he wasn’t volunteering for the Elks and in the earlier years for the Morden Fire Department, he was traveling and living the good life at the cottage.
Rick was a good-hearted soul who left a positive impression with everyone he met – Rick had the ability to talk to anyone! We were extremely blessed to have him in our lives and our world will not be same without him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boundary Trails Health Centre Foundation - Cancer Care.
