RCMP says, "An SUV travelling south on PR 206 collided with a vehicle travelling east on PR 213. The driver and sole occupant of the eastbound vehicle, a 24-year-old male from Winnipeg, was pronounced deceased at the scene."

An 18-year-old female from the RM of Springfield, the driver and sole occupant fo the SUV, was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Someone involved in a similar incident five months ago, Dan Wischnewski, says more needs to be done to make the intersection safer.

Wischnewski says on Facebook, "After my accident, we lobbied for change with the hopes that lights and rumble strips would help make the intersection safer. It did not. I’m absolutely heartbroken for all the families affected by yesterday’s crash."

RCMP say alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor in the October 22 collision.
