The Winnipeg Police Services has said St. Anne's and Fermor is expected to remain closed for a large chunk of the afternoon.

[Update 11:00 a.m.] - The police tweeted out that closures are expected to last through the greater part of the afternoon. They recommend alternative routes. St. Mary's Road is an easy detour for north and southbound traffic. For those travelling on Fermor, you will need to head north towards Marion or south towards Bishop Grandin.

Police have shut down a busy intersection in Winnipeg this morning after a serious accident.

A taxi cab and truck collided near the intersection of St. Annes Road and Fermor Avenue at around 6am.

Four people were taken to hospital, with at least one person suffering from serious injuries.

The Winnipeg Police Service says they expect the closure to last likely through at least the morning rush hour, if not longer.

They are asking you to avoid the area.
