Update: Highway 1 is now open in both directions.
EARLIER:
A collision involving two transport trucks has traffic at a standstill on Highway 1 on Sunday afternoon.
The crash happened near West Hawk Lake around 2 p.m. where the Trans-Canada is a single lane in each direction.
Travellers say that much of Highway 1 in the region in snow-covered and icy in sections and deteriorates the further east you travel.
Lineups for both east and west-bound traffic are now stretching for several kilometres. It's not clear at this time how long the closure will last. Manitoba Infrastructure reports the highway was closed at 2:12 p.m.
There is no word at this time on injuries.
