Seven Christians in Iran have received varying prison sentences for "spreading propaganda against the state."

The seven individuals are converts to Christianity and evidence against them in the justice system process included possession of Christian books and symbols, VOM Canada reports.

The court also considered their holding of church meetings in their homes and their contact with Iranian "evangelists" outside the country.

Maryam was also banned for life from working at any national institution. This means she cannot return to the local hospital for work where she has served for two decades.
