The North End Family Centre, located on Main st. south of Machray avenue, received a large donation toward their building fund yesterday afternoon, a Christian outreach ministry which offers transitional support and pastoral encouragement to those living with poverty in Winnipeg's north end.

At a press release yesterday afternoon, the North End Family Centre, a Christian outreach ministry working to offer transition support and pastoral encouragment to those living with poverty in Winnipeg, received a check for $50,000 from Geoff and Reagan Achrambault to help them in their new building fund.

The Archambaults are realtors and philanthropists living in Winnipeg. The North End Family Centre is among the many charities and community programs they support The Archambaults and their family have known Kyle Mason, the Executive Director and Pastoral Care Coordinator at NEFC, since before the centre even exited. Here is what Geoff had to say about NEFC and their building project:

The new building will be nearly three times the size of the centre's current space, allowing for more programs to be offered and more people dealing with poverty to be supported.

Mason told CHVN that the new building project initially had to raise around $160,000. Thanks to the Archambault's donation, they are well on their way to meeting that goal. The NEFC is so grateful at the Archambault's generosity they announced the new building will be named the "Archambault Building". Mason said he sees the success of the NEFC to be reaching far beyond just the north end:

NEFC opened its doors in October 2009 and has been providing support for its community ever since. Anyone in need can drop by to do laundry, use the centre's computers to search for jobs, or simply to talk to one of the staff who affectionately call their patrons, friends.
