Mayor Brian Bowman is inviting Winnipeggers out to skate with his family this weekend.

For the first time, Mayor Bowman is offering the chance for Winnipeggers to come out for a skate with him and his family. You can take the chance to talk to Mayor Bowman, as he is very willing to listen. You can also just come out for a free skate.

"I just want to have an opportunity for those that want to come out for a free skate . . . or to have a conversation to come out for a skate with me and my family," Mayor Bowman said. It's free admission, but the mayor encourages people to bring a tin for the bin for Winnipeg Harvest.

Mayor Bowman said he has played hockey before, so if you want to keep up him, you'll have to be quick on your skates. "Both my boys are playing hockey," he said. "Typically I build a hockey rink in my backyard every year."

The skate is happening at the St. James Civic Center on Saturday, March 11 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
