Several vehicles are stalled in deep water thanks to a water main break on Pembina Highway on Tuesday morning.

The break is affecting both north and southbound Pembina in the area of Nesbitt. Originally only one lane in each direction was usable.

However, as water continues to accumulate, several vehicles have died while attempting to go through the southbound lanes. That includes a transit bus.

Southbound traffic is being rerouted through residential streets as a result.

The City of Winnipeg is asking motorists to avoid the area while crews work to make repairs. Commuters should expect significant delays Tuesday morning.
