UPDATE: RCMP say a 57-year-old woman has died after being hit by a vehicle on Highway 59.

On Thursday evening at approximately 5:55 pm, a cyclist and vehicle collided near Grande Pointe.

Both the bike and vehicle were travelling northbound.

RCMP say the 57-year-old cyclist from Southern Manitoba was pronounced deceased at the scene. The vehicle's driver, a 23-year-old man from the RMof Grey, was uninjured. Alcohol and drugs were not factors in this collision.

St-Pierre Jolys RCMP and a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist are now investigating. 

 

Earlier:

Emergency crews responded to a cyclist on the side of the road Thursday night near Ile des Chenes.

STARS air ambulance was dispatched at six o'clock to Highway 59.

A STARS spokesperson has informed us that they responded to reports of a cyclist struck by a vehicle. STARS landed at the scene but did not transport the patient.
