Chapman started his music career in the 80's and since then has released over 20 albums, sold more than 10 million, and won numerous awards including more Gospel Music Association Dove Awards than any other artist has ever received.

All of that information you can find just about anywhere on the internet. What is now new for his fans is to learn more about his personal life from childhood to the present. Chapman has now released his story, Between Heaven & the Real World. It tells of many ups and downs he has gone through in his life from playing with his brother to meeting his wife, to joy and loss with his children, and how all of this has impacted his faith and his music.

"The great part was that with songs so often it's like, 'gosh I wish I could tell the whole story of where this song came from, what that line really means.'" Chapman explains. "You pack a lifetime of experience into a line in a song and part of the cool thing about songs is people get to make it their own but they don't necessarily get to really know all that went on to you saying that or writing that line. So I love getting the chance to finally really take people behind the song, the curtain so to speak, and to the experiences that shaped not only my music but my whole life."

"The challenge for me was I wouldn't want to ask somebody to take the time to read my story just for the sake of learning more about me... but it really would be to the end that they would find themselves in reading my story and more importantly they would see the faithfulness of God in my story and even in the broken places how God has redeemed and restored and still is in the process of doing that. And hopefully in a way that they would be able to find greater hope and a deeper faith in trusting God for their own life... that's really the reason why I took the time and wrote this book."

Between Heaven & the Real World should be available everywhere books are sold as of March 7.
