RCMP in Manitoba reunited a bicycle reported stolen by its owner two years prior, following the arrest of a wanted man earlier this week.

According to police in Portage la Prairie, at around 4 p.m., on Sept. 27, an officer was patrolling and recognized a 26-year-old male from Portage la Prairie riding a bicycle on Saskatchewan Avenue West that had an outstanding warrant.

Police say the man was arrested on the strength of that warrant and during the search, a prohibited weapon was located.

The officer also located several baggies of what is believed to be methamphetamine. Further investigation revealed the suspect was riding a bicycle reported stolen two years earlier.

The man faces charges of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, weapons possession contrary to an order, possession of methamphetamine, and three counts of failing to comply with a release order.

The bicycle was returned to the owner through the help of providing the RCMP with the serial number when it went missing two years prior.
