Environment Canada is tracking a lot of wind that should be arriving in Winnipeg over the next few days.

A special weather statement was issued this afternoon for all of southwestern and south-central Manitoba. Environment Canada is tracking a system that could bring wind gusts of up to 90 km/h or higher, starting in southwest Manitoba on Wednesday morning.

Wind warnings may be issued for parts of southwestern Manitoba as well, but there is still uncertainty in the exact track and intensity of the system.

These strong gusts could cause damage of buildings and could toss loose objects. Be careful if you venture outside on Wednesday.

Multiple areas are under the special weather statement, including:

  • Brandon
  • Dauphin
  • Grand Beach
  • Killarney
  • Boissevain
  • Riding Mountain National Park
