After identifying and arresting the suspect in a homicide investigation, officials believe there are no more arrests needed regarding the incident.

On May 30, the Homicide Unit took over an investigation after the victim, 22-year-old Alan Henry Anderson of Winnipeg, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

Investigators identified a suspect believed to be involved in the incident. At approximately 4:30 a.m. on the same date, the suspect was located in the 300 block of Mountain Avenue and placed under arrest without incident.

Through further investigation, police learned the suspect and the victim were in separate groups on Salter Street near Burrows Avenue when they engaged in a dispute.

After a moment, the dispute became physical and the suspect stabbed the victim, causing serious injuries.

Anderson's family has been notified of his death.

The suspect and victim were not previously known to one another.

Cory Dylan Watt, 24, of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Manslaughter
  • Fail to comply with condition of release order x2

He was detained in custody.

The Homicide Unit does not anticipate further arrests regarding the incident.
