A  20-year-old man is dead and a 15-year-old girl is appearing in court Tuesday after police allege she purposefully struck two pedestrians with a vehicle.

The Manitoba RCMP says that the incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. on June 3, on a trail near Dupont Street, in Powerview-Pine Falls.

Powerview RCMP responded to the call. Mounties say that a 27-year-old female pedestrian was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. However, a 20-year-old male pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. Both were residents of the community 90 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg, according to the RCMP.

The RCMP says that investigators believe that a 15-year-old female was driving the vehicle and intentionally struck the pedestrians.

The 15-year-old female from Sagkeeng First Nation was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder and Assault with a Weapon. She was remanded into custody before her court appearance.

Powerview RCMP along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate.
