A pair of high school seniors in Florida are giving thanks to God for rescue following a beach-day-gone-awry.

The astounding power of prayer was made apparent to Tyler Smith and Heather Brown after the two became stranded in open water.

CBN News reports that the pair, who have been friends since the fourth grade, had been out swimming off the coast of Vilano Beach when they realized they had drifted too far to return to shore.

Two miles away, Smith and Brown fought the waves for two hours and held on to each other to stay above water. Then, they thought to call out to the one who controls the seas.

Smith said he cried out to God, saying if He did really have a plan for Brown and himself, to bring them something.

In answer to their desperate plea, a boat happened upon the two teens, who were at that point on the verge of drowning. Captain Eric Wagner and his crew were able to get the teens out of the water and into the boat.

When Wagner told the two what the name of the boat was, the pair began to cry. The vessel's name? "The Amen," a name more than fitting for an answer to prayer.

Wagner says that it was God all along who saved the teens.

Smith and Brown graduate from Christ's Church Academy this month and are planning on both entering the military, where they know without a doubt that God will be with them.
