Former Red Rock Bible Camp staffer dies in skiing accident

A former Red Rock Bible Camp staff member lost his life in a skiing accident on Monday.

Dave Treadway of Kenora, ON perished after falling down a crevasse while backcountry skiing on April 15.

The skier was well-known for his skill and the pure joy he exhibited as he sailed down the slopes. However, he is also well-known for his time spent at Red Rock Bible Camp.

One of the world's best-known Christian leaders died at the age of 80. 

Rev. Dr. Denton Lotz passed away on April 23 at his home in Forestdale, Massachusetts.

Christian author Rachel Held Evans dead at 37

Christian author, mother, and wife, Rachel Held Evans passed away this spring not quite one month after a sudden illness.

"I keep hoping it’s a nightmare from which I’ll awake," her husband wrote in announcing that Rachel died on the morning of Saturday, May 4, 2019.

Rachel tweeted on April 9 that she was feeling ill. She was hospitalized on April 14 and put into a medically induced coma a short time later. Dan updated her website on April 30 to say she was being weaned off the coma-inducing drugs and slowly brought out of the coma.

'The pastor's pastor' Warren Wiersbe dies at 89

Biblical scholar, author, and pastor Warren W. Wiersbe died on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at the age of 89. 

Wiersbe's grandson, Dan Jacobson, posted the news on his blog this week.

Jacobson said that his grandfather was responsible for helping many understand Scripture. “Grandpa built bridges from the world of the Bible to the world of today so that we could get to the other side of glory in Jesus.”

Pastor, father of 3, killed in car crash

Rev. Tom Cheung was identified as the victim of a car crash in May 2019.

A fundraiser set up for his family says that Cheung "was a loving husband of Athens, a caring devoted father of Solomon, Benjamin and Elisha; and a generous Pastor with lots of love and patience to many." He was the pastor of Port Moody Pacific Grace MB Church.

Rob Moll, author and editor, dies at 41

Rob Moll, author of The Art of Dying and What Your Body Knows About God, died at the age of 41.

Moll's publisher, IVP says in a release that Moll will be remembered as a talented writer and editor as well as a beloved friend.

Moll is survived by his wife and four young children.

A beloved Low German pastor died in a plane crash, along with three others in July.

Steve Wall was Senior Pastor of Lebenswasser Church in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico. He also was influential in partnering with YouVersion to produce the first-ever complete Low German audio Bible.

Honeymoon turns to tragedy when hopeful pastor drowns

A newlywed couple was enjoying their honeymoon at a Florida beach last week when tragedy struck. 

Dalton and Cheyenne Cottrell were at Crescent Beach in St. Augustine, FL, on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, when the current swept out both of them. Dalton struggled in the water, and though there were lifeguards on duty, they weren't able to save him.

Three leaders of a well-known international ministry died after their vehicle plunged off a bridge following a traffic collision in October.

"Peter and Miranda Harris, co-founders of A Rocha, and Chris Naylor, A Rocha International CEO, together with his wife Susanna, were involved in a horrific car accident in Port Elizabeth, South Africa," A Rocha says in a release.

Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke dies at 79

One of the world's most well-known evangelists, Reinhard Bonnke, died at the age of 79.

Bonnke spent six decades in ministry, best known for his crusades in Africa.

"All told, more than 79-million people made Christ their Lord as a result of Evangelist Bonnke’s ministry," Christ For All Nations (CFAN) evangelist Daniel Kolenda says in an online post. "Bonnke was best known for his gospel outreach campaigns throughout Africa. It is no exaggeration to say that his work transformed the continent."

Lois Evans, wife of Pastor Tony Evans, dies at 70

Lois Evans, the wife of the well-known pastor and author Tony Evans, died at the age of 70 at the end of December.

Tony made the announcement on his Facebook page Monday. "Just before the sun came up this morning, the love of my life, Lois Irene Evans, transitioned from earth and watched her first sunrise from heaven," Tony wrote.
