Despite the frigid temperatures this week there are many good news stories to share.

Seeking out goodness in a time of darkness

The past couple of years have been difficult for many as we deal with the ongoing pandemic.  

And although it can be difficult to seek out the goodness in the world, Alexandra Kuykendall, a popular speaker, writer and national network director for Project 127, reminds us that everything is going to be okay, that God is still at work, even in small ways. She says God is still in control and still offers us good gifts. We just have to know where to look for them.

It’s been 14 years in the making, and after funding negotiations, and promises the construction on a fully-twinned Trans-Canada Highway from Kenora to the Manitoba border is finally beginning and could be completed by 2025.

It was made official at the Ontario/Manitoba on November 19, 2021, by Minister of Transportation, Caroline Mulroney, and Greg Rickford, Minister of Indigenous Affairs, and Minister of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources, and Forestry.

Steinbach fishers safe after freezing cold trip

Three young men are safe after Mounties found them freezing in a broken-down truck on Clearwater Lake.

On December 30, two 18-year-olds and a 19-year-old from Steinbach were heading out to ice fish on Clearwater Lake when their truck broke down on the ice. Temperatures dropped to -38C with the windchill that night.
