One woman is healing her heart and the earth by using recycled material to create amazing works of art.

Moneca Sinclaire is an Academic Researcher at the University of Manitoba. In her spare time, she creates works of art from mostly recycled material. 

"Most of the work I do, if I'm displaying artwork I do outdoor interactive installation art. It's art people can touch and be a part of."

The Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team is praising the Lord after being blessed in their own time of need after a training incident.

Last week during a training session, Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team's (HEART) main boat's motor was damaged, saying they were shocked to learn it would cost $8,000 for the parts and take a month to get them in.

Catholic Oblates, NCTR, working together to collect and archive residential school records

A ministry that ran all three residential schools that have the made news across the country for its hundreds of unmarked graves will be working with the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR).

“Consistent with the spirit and intent of the Settlement Agreement, we are relieved by the efforts being made by the Oblates to make their records available so Indigenous communities can move one step closer to healing," NCTR Executive Director Stephanie Scott says in a joint statement.

Individual Christians start network of hope in India during pandemic

Individual Christian volunteers in India have banded together to create the Love Your Neighbor Network which has helped thousands during the pandemic. 

According to Christianity Today, in May 2020, during the world’s largest nationwide lockdown, Rahul George, an entrepreneur in Bengaluru and founder of the network, was stirred to do something when he saw visuals on local media of daily-wage migrant labourers walking back to their villages without any means of sustenance and support.

"God grabbed my heart and I heard His heartbeat for Congo," says a Manitoba missionary in her service to the poorest country in the world. 

Doreen Lundy is the Executive Director of Together Building Africa (TBA). When she's not living in the Congo doing missions work for part of each year, she lives with her husband of 50 years, Stan, in Beausejour, Manitoba. 

On May 22, 2021, the Democratic Republic of Congo was hit with a volcanic eruption 11 kilometres away from a city with 1.5 million people. The blast was caused and continued to cause earthquakes afterward.

Brandon church responds to graffiti, hoping to listen and learn from it

Behind the graffitied doors of a Brandon church is a welcoming congregation.

"The building was graffitied sometime Saturday night into Sunday morning. I noticed it when I was walking to the church Sunday morning. We only had one door that was affected," says Reverend Don Bernhardt from St. Matthew's Anglican Cathedral, part of the Diocese of Brandon, Manitoba. 

"We don't always know what we should do or how to do it, and part of that is because maybe we haven't engaged as deeply as we should have in listening. That's hard because it means listening and hearing things you might not want to hear and then responding to what you're hearing without inserting your own opinions into it."

Another exploitative website is being shut down

The porn website XTube accused of exploitation and affiliated with the Montreal-based parent company MindGeek is being shut down. 

"In another massive victory against exploitative porn, XTube—the MindGeek-owned “sister site” of Pornhub—is shutting down!" says Exodus Cry on their Facebook page. The organization is a US company committed to abolishing sex trafficking and breaking the cycle of commercial sexual exploitation.
