The RCMP is searching for a 19-year-old male suspect after reports of gunshots were reported in a Northern Manitoba community.

The RCMP released a report indicating that yesterday at approximately 11:30 p.m., Norway House RCMP responded to a call of a firearm having been discharged from an ATV in the community.

Officers immediately arrived on the site of the scene and were told that a 4-year-old female, who had been standing outside a residence, had been wounded from a gunshot. Her injuries were non-life threatening.

Witnesses explained that two males were seen riding an ATV through the area at the time of the shooting.

While police officers and EMS were at the scene, more gunshots were heard. Additional officers were called to the scene and after asking around the neighbourhood for suspicious activity, two suspects were identified.

a 16-year-old male was located in his residence and arrested without a struggle. He remains in police custody.

Officers continue to search for the second suspect, a 19-year-old male.
