You can be a part of this year's historic Canada Summer Games as a torchbearer.

If you are 12-years-old and up, you can volunteer as a torchbearer. You can nominate somebody else, or just nominate yourself.

"We need volunteers in numerous areas," Jeff Hnatiuk, host society president and CEO of the Summer Games said. "Whether it's transportation, athletes village, the sports side, marketing, food services, there is just an endless list of opportunities."

The Canada Summer Games are being hosted in Winnipeg. It's the 50th anniversary for the games and that coincides with Canada's 150th birthday.

The torch will be run through 11 communities. In each community, there will be a celebration as the torch goes through.

The deadline to nominate a torchbearer is April 14th.
