Returning for its 58th anniversary, the Transcona Hi Neighbour Festival returns after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

The Transcona Hi Neighbour Festival Inc (THNFI) works to bring together the community, strengthen relationships and allow people to have some fun to create the largest community festival that happens in the city of Winnipeg.

It is a free weekend-long event that will include live children's entertainment, face painting, balloon artistry, glitter tattoos, various mascots and Disney princesses and contests.

There will also be a family-friendly concert on Friday starting at 5 pm, with Canadian Classic Rock acts by Quest Musique Band and Big Top Radio. Other bands will perform throughout the rest of the weekend as well, such as Harlequin.

With the excitement of the festival making a comeback, locals are also joyful that the Transcona statue named Sam has also returned. Back in December of last year the statue was taken down for refurbishing and maintenance and was put back up Thursday evening.
