The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service faced a busy afternoon on Sunday.

At 2:09 p.m. on August 30, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant two-storey house in the 600 block of Banning Street.

Upon arrival on scene, crews launched an offensive attack and the fire was very quickly brought under control. 

A search of the house was conducted and no occupants were located. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time. 

At 2:49 p.m. WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire to the retaining wall structure along the roadway at Harrowby Avenue and St. Mary’s Road.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy smoke and flames.

The fire was quickly knocked down but crews remained on scene extinguishing hot spots throughout the afternoon. 

Engineers inspected the structure to ensure it was still safe.
