"The pain of losing a son and news that the second son wasn't doing good at all is numbing."

Those are the words of Jayden Guenther, whose son, Levi, is struggling after being diagnosed with more medical complications.

Guenther and his wife, Sonja, from Steinbach found out they were pregnant with identical twins with TTTS (twin to twin transfusion syndrome) earlier this year.

At 23.5 weeks gestation, the Guenther's had their two sons. Both Levi and Lucas weighed just over one pound when they were born.

Lucas developed a brain bleed and died on May 9. His twin, Levi, has dealt with many significant medical concerns over the past month.

"Doctors say if they didn’t find he had NEC today it was likely he wouldn’t have made it until the weekend," Guenther says, "so we thank God for the follow up on his stomach and that the doctors were able to catch it!"

But the Guenthers are praying desperately that Levi will be able to recover from his latest complication.

"From recently losing our son Lucas to being told our other son is very very ill is by far the hardest thing to process," Guenther says.
