A woman is in custody facing a manslaughter charge after a mid-day incident.

Police have a 38-year-old woman in custody after an assault on Wedneday that resulted in a man in his 30s dying.

On Wednesday at 1:36 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of Main Street and Dufferin Avenue. When they arrived, they found a 33-year-old man seriously injured.

"Members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of an assault in the area of Main Street and Dufferin Avenue. An adult male has been transported to a hospital with serious injuries," Constable Jay Murray, Public Information Officer with the Winnipeg Police Service said in a statement Wednesday.

The man later died of his injuries in hospital.
