An area frequented by cottage-goers is seeing a heavy police presence Wednesday night.

As of 7 p.m. Wednesday night, a rental vehicle believed to be operated by a homicide suspect was seen driving eastbound on Manitoba Highway 44, east of Whitemouth.

"All possible RCMP resources are being deployed to bring Eric Wildman safely into custody. Expect heavy police presence throughout the Whiteshell area," RCMP says in a statement.

They are asking residents and motorists in the Whileshell area to report anything suspicious by calling 911. They say Wildman is considered armed and dangerous and are urging people to report sightings of him or the vehicle.

On Wednesday, authorities released stills from video footage of Wildman going to a home reno store and a car rental business at the airport.

Eric Wildman, who is wanted in connection to the homicide investigation of Clifford Joseph, has been seen as recently as Tuesday evening. RCMP Manitoba says credible sources tell them he was in the Lockport area, driving a grey 2020 Chevy Equinox east on Highway 44.

Police are releasing footage of the man from Friday, where he was seen entering Lowe’s Home Improvement store on Panet Road at 6:41 p.m., and entering a cab 14 minutes later.

That cab drove the suspect to the Winnipeg International Airport, where he rented the Equinox he was seen driving Tuesday.

Authorities are reminding the public that Wilman is considered Armed and Dangerous, asking people to call 911 immediately if they spot him or his vehicle.

Wildman's St. Clements property was searched Tuesday by RCMP officers. Wildman was previously seen in East Kildonan.

When searching inside Wilman's abandoned vehicle, authorities found firearms and police-like gear. They believe he may have more gear and firearms.
