With red ribbons tied to their cars, family and friends of Mackaylah Gerard-Roussin began their vigil in Winnipeg and then travelled to the Deerfield address where earlier this week RCMP were investigating the homicide.
In a Facebook post, a family member said the vigil would continue on from Steinbach to Woodridge and then back to Winnipeg where candles would be lit in front of the Manitoba Legislature at 9 PM.
On Saturday afternoon, RCMP responded to a residence along Creekside Drive in Steinbach to investigate a possible homicide. Later that day, the body of Mackaylah Gerard-Roussin was found on a remote ATV trail in the rural area south of Woodridge.
RCMP has charged 20-year-old Josh Benoit from Winnipeg with 1st-degree murder.
