Winnipeg Police are searching for witnesses in connection to the city's latest homicide. 

At around 10:29 p.m. on Friday, officers found an injured male near a sidewalk on the Slaw Rebchuk Bridge. Officers provided medical care until emergency crews arrived on scene. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead a short time later. 

The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Richard Dominic Anthony Contois of Winnipeg.

The Major Crimes Unit is investigating. 

Winnipeg Police are asking anyone who may have been travelling on the bridge before the incident who feels they may have information that can help or dashcam footage to contact detectives at 204-986-6219.

Family members have planned a vigil for Richard at the Slaw Rebchuk bridge for 6 p.m. tonight.
