A memorial has been planned for Friday to remember the victims of the Ukraine International Airlines plane crash that happened near Tehran Tuesday night.

The crash killed all 176 people onboard, including 63 Canadians, with a number of those from Winnipeg.

At least five of those victims have some sort of connection to the University of Manitoba. Three were U of M alumni, one a graduate student and another an international College of Manitoba Student.

Today the University of Manitoba, together with help from the U of M Iranian Students Association and U of M Spiritual Care will hold a vigil in honour of the victims.

The event will take place from 4 p.m- 5 p.m. in the EITC Atrium at the Faculty of Engineering on the Fort Garry Campus.
