Volunteer tax programs throughout the city help those with low-incomes finish their taxes, including one at Bethel Mennonite Church.

A number of volunteer tax programs are set up around the city. Volunteers from the community, who have been trained and certified by the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA), help those with lower incomes prepare their taxes.

"It's all part of our larger community ministry," Reynold Friesen, the community pastor at Bethel Mennonite Church said. "We seek to be a blessing to the neighbourhood and the people in it."

Bethel Mennonite Church has continued to expand their community programs as they seek to minister to what Friesen calls "the quartet of the vulnerable", which is the widow, the stranger, the orphan, and the poor.

Friesen says many of the volunteers from the church were already doing it downtown with the CRA. As the church grew in the community, they started to relate to people in the neighbourhood and a natural connection formed.
