Whether you can navigate, drive a vehicle, or pray with your whole heart, your time and efforts are needed.

A local initiative is literally planning to pray and drive simultaneously, enough to include the entire city of Winnipeg.

Ann Wiens, co-executive director of Why Encounter Inc., says prayer events are their group's go-to when it comes to promoting their book.

The book Why Am I On This Earth was first released in 1986 and has been promoted across Canada, with over a million copies so far having been dispersed to individuals and churches.

"Before we deliver, we always do an intensive prayer campaign," Wiens says. Their next campaign is taking place on March 16, 2019, starting at 9:00 a.m.

"It's very exciting," shared Wiens. The group has done events such as the phone book prayer in the past, first trying the prayer drive tactic in September 2018. They were able to cover approximately 95 percent of Winnipeg in one morning.

"Prayer changes things." -Ann Wiens

"Every time we come and start a new project we ask, 'Lord, what do you want us to do?'" According to Wiens, He just dropped the idea of a prayer drive into their minds.

Now, Why Encounter is trying to do it again, but they're in need of drivers, navigators, and prayer warriors to do so.

"There's so much happening in these homes," Wiens explained. "We just feel that's what God wants us to do, That's the power. Prayer changes things."

Equipped with a map, a prayer list, and scripture, each car sets out along their route, which taken collectively will contribute to canvassing the entirety of Winnipeg in a cover of prayer.

"You drive along, you see people on the street, you pray for them, you pray for these homes, you go 15 kilometers an hour, and you just pray for all the families. And I know, things happen."

Fittingly, Wiens says her favourite verse speaks to this: "God can do greater things through you than you could ever dream of. Infinitely, beyond your highest thoughts, prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes" (Ephesians 3:20.
