The Winnipeg Blue Bombers CEO and President is asking fans to team together despite the cancelled season.

Wade Miller, a fan-favourite player before taking over in the Blue and Gold's head office, is thanking the team's fans for their support over the past few months.

"I would like to thank you for the incredible support and patience that you've shown us in the past few months," he says in a statement.

On Monday the CFL announced that the 2020 season will not be happening due to financial concerns. Winnipeg would have played host for the entire CFL season if it had come through.

"Today the CFL made an announcement regarding the 2020 season, and we are disappointed to have to tell you that we won’t be returning to the field this fall. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the CFL are absolutely committed to making that return in 2021, and we can’t wait to get back to having football IG Field."

He adds that the club is working on a new project to "give fans a chance to be a part of our storied history and support our bright future." He says that the new plan will be revealed later this week to the public.

As fans wait for the news, Miller is asking Manitobans to work together to stay healthy.

"In the coming months, let’s work together to stay safe and healthy, and together we’ll continue to celebrate our championship season and our passion for the game."
