Two Calgarians are facing charges after a suspect was spotted going from one vehicle to another with a rifle in hand.

Early Sunday morning the Winnipeg Police Service's Air1 was on a routine flight when they spotted something suspicious at 2:45 a.m. The WPS says the crew spotted a speeding Jeep travelling north on Osborne Street from Broadway.

Following the vehicle, the Jeep stopped at a West End residence. While watching the Jeep, police say a man with a rifle in hand approached the Jeep. The armed man then entered a Volvo sedan, speeding away. Air1 then asked officers on the ground to stop the Volvo.

In the video, an Air1 officer can be heard saying "let's use caution on this one."

As officers on the ground stopped the Volvo in the 1200 block of Logan Avenue, the passenger jumped out, fleeing on foot. After a short chase, police arrested a male suspect.

Air1 then followed the driver as they lost control of the Volvo Worth Street at Logan Avenue, driving onto a boulevard. The driver and a second passenger who was holding a gun then exited the vehicle. The pair began fleeing on foot, at first together and then separately.

The video shows the suspect with the gun ditching the weapon by a nearby shed and hiding beside a garage. Police then approached at several angles.

Both suspects were taken into custody.

At the time of the arrest, officers seized a 5.56 mm assault-style rifle.
