The RCMP in Manitoba is reminding drivers to use caution after officers caught a near-devastating collision in thick fog on video Thursday morning.
The incident occurred on Highway 10 north of Brandon, as officers were travelling on the single-lane highway.
Video footage from an RCMP cruiser shows a vehicle pull out and pass another in near-zero visibility.
Just moments after the passing vehicle pulls back into the right-hand lane a school bus travelling in the opposite direction emerges from the thick fog.
"We could have been responding to a very tragic collision this morning," the RCMP says.
A 28-year-old driver was fined $174 for passing without a clear view.
"Please be careful out there - your decisions on the road could have catastrophic consequences," the RCMP says on Twitter.
