Every year shoeboxes are filled with love and hope, but physically, this is what is recommended to add.

The classic red-topped green boxes can be filled with many items, with school supplies and hygiene products being the biggest needs.

Each box will be sorted into groups for a boy or girl, and by age: two-four, five-nine, and 10-14.

Samaritan's Purse recommends the following items:

School supplies:

  • pens
  • pencils
  • sharpeners
  • crayons
  • markers
  • notebooks
  • paper
  • solar calculators
  • colouring and picture books

Non-liquid hygiene products:

  • toothbrushes
  • bar soap
  • combs
  • washcloths

Clothing and accessories:

  • T-shirts
  • socks
  • hats
  • sunglasses
  • hair clips
  • jewelry
  • watches
  • flashlights

Toys that the child can use for many years are recommended, such as a yo-yo or a light-up toy with extra batteries. If you are crafty, making things like bows and finger puppets is recommended. Gifts of nails, powdered paints, and scissors can be included, but no liquids.

Samaritan's Purse suggests adding a "wow gift" like a stuffed animal or a soccer ball and pump.

A letter to the child and a family photo are personalized touches that Samaritan's Purse encourages people to add.

Do not pack:
