We're into day two of an annual fundraiser for Muscular Dystrophy that sees Winnipeg firefighters campout on a rooftop for more than 72 hours.

Firefighter-paramedic Connor Normandin says the goal this year is 100-thousand dollars. As of noon Wednesday they were just begining to count the first day's totals. "So far it's looking good," Normandin said. "We're looking forward to the rest of the week.

Last year, they raised 90-thousand dollars.

This is the eighth time Winnipeg's firefighters have taken part in this fundraiser. If they reach their goal this year, it would bring the eight year total to 500 thousand dollars.

Normandin says some of them will be out on the street during rush hour tonight and tomorrow and Friday morning collecting donations. You can also walk up to the fire station any time during the 3-day event and donate directly to the rooftop participants.

"There's a rope by the garage door, so you can come and pull it and ring the bell. Then we'll lower a boot down, you can stick your donation in the boot, and we'll raise it up."

The firefighters will continue to camp out and collect donations until Friday morning at 11:00 a.m.
