Two fires in four hours brought out city firefighters Saturday evening.

A one-storey home in the 400 block of Sherbrook Street, near the University of Winnipeg, first called Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WPFS) crews around 5:20 p.m.

Smoke was coming from the building when crews arrived. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 5:43 p.m.

WFPS confirmed no occupants were inside the home after a search. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

About three hours later WFPS responded to a fire in a two-storey home in the North End.

The fire took place in the 300 block of Flora Avenue, near David Livingstone School.

Smoke was coming from the home when crews arrived. After an offensive attack, the fire was declared under control at 9:22 p.m.

WFPS says all occupants were safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. There were no injuries and the fire remains under investigation.
