In a group of six motorcyclists, one man died after hitting mud on the highway and entering oncoming traffic.

This morning, the RCMP announced that there was a fatal collision that happened Saturday afternoon on Provincial Road 311, near Road 36E, located approximately five kilometres northeast of Steinbach.

The six motorcyclists were travelling westbound on PR 311 and hit mud debris on the road. The lead rider lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown off into oncoming traffic, he was then hit by a pickup truck headed eastbound. The 45-year-old Winnipeg male was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The other motorists also lost control of their motorcycles but were able to put down their bikes successfully. No other injuries were reported.

Steinbach RCMP along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigate.
