A Winnipeg police officer is facing charges following a collision earlier this year.

The crash, which involved a police cruiser and a small red vehicle, took place at the corner of Notre Dame Avenue and Donald Street on April 16, 2023, at around 6 p.m.

The driver of the red car was taken to hospital for treatment for a broken rib. Two police officers were also transported to hospital, examined and medically cleared.

Due to the nature of the incident, the Independent Investigation Unit took over the case.

As a result of the investigation, Winnipeg Police Service Constable Landan Ramage has been charged with failing to use a siren and failure to drive with due regard to safety, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The matter is now before the courts, and the IIU will not comment further.
