Winnipeg police are searching for a pair of suspects after a man was shot while attempting to sell a firearm.

The Major Crimes Unit says the victim and suspects had arranged to meet at an address in the 500 block of Mountain Avenue Monday evening to complete the firearm purchase.

The meeting, which was prearranged through an online firearm brokerage classified website, went terribly wrong when the victim became suspicious of the suspects' behaviour.

According to the Major Crimes Unit, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot the victim's vehicle several times as he began to drive away. The 20-year-old victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was later located by police in the 1000 block of McPhillips Street. He was rushed to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

The suspects fled before police arrived, and police continue to search for them.

The first suspect is described as a white male in his 20s. He was last seen wearing a white hooded sweater. The second suspect is described as a man in his 30s. He was last seen wearing dark clothing and carrying a long gun.

Anyone with information, home/business video surveillance, or dash cam video that may assist investigators in identifying the suspects is asked to call 204-986-6219, Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477), or online at winnipegcrimestoppers.org.
