From September 1 - 7, many Winnipeg restaurants create and serve a brand new burger to compete for the title of the best.

Le Burger Week began 6 years ago in Montreal but since then it has spread to most major Canadian cities, including Winnipeg.

One such restaurant that has been participating for the past 4 years is Saddlery on Market.

This year their newly created burger just for this week is the "Blonde and Baked in the Saddle" burger.

"This burger pays homage to our cities past. It features a panko-crusted chicken breast and it has this most awesome lemon basil aioli to top it off as well," says Aaron Newnham, a cook at Saddlery.

Last year the restaurant created the "Manitoban" burger. The year before that, their burger came in fifth place and was a Bison Mac-n-cheese burger.

Most years fans can vote as to which restaurant has their favourite burger but this year will be different.

"They're not doing voting this year," according to Newnham. This is due to the pandemic.

However, Winnipeggers can still find a list of all the restaurants participating in Le Burger Week on their website.
