After a day of snowfall and high winds, parts of the province remain under winter storm warnings this morning.

The Red River Valley — including Morden, Winkler, Altona, Morris, Steinbach, St. Adolphe, Emerson, Vita, Richer — can still expect northerly wind gusts up to 60 km/h, blowing snow and reduced visibility.

Highway 75 from Winnipeg to the U.S. border was closed Tuesday evening but has reopened Wednesday morning.

An arctic ridge of high pressure is expected to clear skies later this morning though will bring with it frigid temperatures as the mercury drops to near minus 30, feeling more like minus 40 overnight tonight. Environment Canada has issued extreme cold warnings in western Manitoba as a result.

Temperatures are expected to moderate towards the end of the week.
