A 29-year-old woman was arrested over the weekend after attempting to break into an East Kildonan home.
At around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, Winnipeg police were called to a home in the 1300 block of Raleigh Street following reports of a woman being stabbed during a break-in attempt.
When officers arrived at the scene, they located the suspect outside the house, suffering from a stab wound. She was transported to hospital and treated for her injury.
Winnipeg police say the suspect, who was intoxicated at the time, had been in a verbal argument with the victim before forcibly kicking in the front door. The suspect was stabbed by an adult female resident, preventing her from entering the home further.
Two children were home at the time of the incident. They were found unharmed.
Police say the suspect and victim were previously known to one another.
A 29-year-old woman faces a break-and-enter charge. She was released on an undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
