Winnipeg police honoured the retirement of a long-time volunteer in an online post Tuesday.

For the past 21 years, Gloria Matskiw has volunteered with the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS).

Since 1999, Matskiw worked as part of the Community Volunteer Program and volunteered in numerous WPS facilities, including the Corydon Service Centre, the Public Safety Building, the District 6 Station on Pembina, and at WPS headquarters.

She began her career as a volunteer with the Winnipeg Police Service in 1999 and, now, Gloria Matskiw is retiring . During her career with the Community Volunteer Program, Gloria volunteered at many of our facilities including the Corydon Service Centre, the Public Safety Building, the District 6 Station (Pembina) and, most recently, our Headquarters building. Gloria participated in many events over the years including the WPS Half Marathon and was a regular member of the WPS Choir. Gloria passed along her knowledge to many of our junior members as she was regularly involved in our training and a long time Team Leader. Gloria leaves the WPS after generously donating just over 4500 hours of her time. We wish Gloria all the best in the next chapter of her life. Thank you … for the outstanding commitment to the community and to the Winnipeg Police Service! #WPSCommunity
