A moving and passionate prayer by a 6-year-old girl has received over 1.6 million views on Facebook.

Addison Castro and her family were having a time of worship when her mother, Marcella, says she broke into a Spirit-led prayer.

In the prayer, Addison prayed for persecuted Christians, as well as those persecuting Christians, that they would know that God loves them, too. She also asked for help to minister to a boy at school and that God would be able to speak through her to others for His good.

Addison's mother shared the video of her daughter's moving and faithful prayer to Facebook, privately at first, with only a few friends. It wasn't long, however, before those friends were asking to share her daughter's faith and prayer with others.

"We tend to be very private. What was displayed on the video is not what always happens," explained Marcella. While she and husband Anthony say it is common for their family to pray simply, the family also embraces a strong belief in the power of prayer and the necessity to have a desire to speak to God often.

Addison's prayer style is something that Anthony attributes to being "a family gift."

"Prayer [and] worship has been extremely important for us as a family because it's what brings us closer together," Marcella said. "It allows us to share our hearts together and draw into God. It has fuelled intimacy and vulnerability with each other and God."

That intimacy with both God and each other is one reason Marcella and Anthony intentionally ensure that Addison and little brother Judah are never excluded from anything faith-based, "be it ministry, service, or prayer. We try our best to encourage family participation," explained Marcella.

"A big part is just living out our faith in front of Addison and... Judah, not excluding them from anything we do, any disciplines we have regarding faith."

The Castro's also believe in ensuring their children are knowledgable about what is happening around them in the world. Addison's knowledge of persecution, which she displays during her prayer, came as a result of her asking her parents questions after seeing Christian persecution in the news.

"Addy in walking passed while the news is on has had questions that we’ve had to address about persecution," Marcella explained. "We’ve also taught her that free worship is a privilege that only some countries have and others do not. In addition, we’ve had friends that are missionaries and have explained why it is so important to go out and proclaim the gospel to the nations."

Addison says that she considers God to be her friend and that she hopes He will use her "to speak to other people about God.

"I want to be able to share my faith with other people so they can know about Jesus and go to heaven," shared Addison.

While she has not been able to speak to the boy yet at her school, she has been able to speak to other people "a little bit," and says she thinks prayer is very important.

"Praying is important because God always answers our prayers but if it's not good for us, he doesn't."
