Team Jones has announced that Mackenzie Zacharias has decided to focus on her career and other passions in her life at this time and is taking a break from competitive curling.

Zacharias was on Jennifer Jones' first-year five-person team with Karlee Burgess, Emily Zacharias and Lauren Lenentine that won the 2023 Provincial Scotties Tournament of Hearts at East St. Paul in January and lost the National Scotties final to defending champion Kerri Einarson the following month in Kamloops.

Zacharias will remain with the team for the final two Grand Slam of Curling events of the season; the Players Championship in Toronto (April 11-16) and the Champions Cup in Regina (May 2-7).

The 23-year-old Altona native won three Provincial U18 curling championships, two Provincial Junior titles, captured gold at the 2020 Canadian & World Junior championships and won two Provincial Scotties Tournament of Hearts titles.

Zacharias has curled with Emily Burgess, her sister Emily and Lauren Lenentine since the start of the 2019-2020 curling season.
