Winnipeg couple equips Indigenous communities with tools for healing
A Winnipeg-based organization, Resilient Healing, is excited to share its knowledge and personal healing journeys with Indigenous communities around the province. Run and founded by Melvina and Dakotah Guiboche, Resilient Healing offers workshops and programs tailored to its audience. "Resilient Healing is a vision that I believe the Lord has given us," says Melvina. "It's based on conflict resolution. I went to school for conflict resolution, and my husband went to university and graduated with his degree. Resilient Healing is based on our stories, who we are as Indigenous people, and who we are as children of God and the body of Christ." .embed-container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; } .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; } The Guiboche's take their own stories of healing and transformation, alongside their education in conflict resolution, to walk people through the process of sharing their stories to gain freedom from past trauma. "Our tailored wellness programs integrate proven conflict resolution techniques, mindfulness practices and therapeutic approaches to help individuals navigate challenges, rebuild trust, and foster a deeper connection," says Dakotah. The workshops Resilient Healing offers include conflict resolution, conflict in the family, anger management, addictions and domestic violence awareness. "By the end of our workshops, there are individuals that say, 'Hey, I want to try Jesus.' That's the most empowering thing for us. That someone who maybe would have never walked into a church, or someone who has been wounded from the church, would say, 'Hey, I should try Jesus.'" Resilient Healing is a grassroots organization and they are open to connecting with and working alongside churches to offer hope, healing, and reconciliation.
