Tyler Robinson arrested in relation to Charlie Kirk murder
The alleged shooter who killed Charlie Kirk, an evangelical Christian and conservative activist and close ally to Donald Trump, is in custody. The Associated Press reports that a law enforcement official says the suspect is a 22-year-old Utah resident, Tyler Robinson. Kirk was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on September 10, at 12:20 p.m. President Donald Trump went on Fox & Friends on Friday morning for a live interview to confirm the news. "With a high degree of certainty, we have him. Somebody that was very close to him said, ‘Hmm, that’s him,’” Trump said. The Associated Press is reporting that the suspect indicated to a family friend who was a minister and also involved in law enforcement that he was connected to the shooting, as he was critical of Kirk's beliefs. In 2012, Kirk co-founded Turning Point USA, a nonprofit political organization based in Arizona. Trump said on Fox & Friends, “He wanted to help young people, and he didn’t deserve this. He was really a good person.” The Associated Press is reporting that the FBI believe the shooting was targeted. "I can tell you this was a targeted event,” said Robert Bohls, the top FBI agent in Salt Lake City. More to come.
