Winnipeg senior calls her recovery a miracle, now on a mission to share God’s love
A Winnipeg woman is using her second lease on life to spread the good news of Jesus. Beverley, a farm girl born and raised in Manitoba, was diagnosed with cancer in her spine four years ago while in her 80s. Due to her age, she decided not to move forward with treatment and to live out the rest of her life the way she felt God calling her to. "The diagnosis was such that I was told I needed to do something about it," said Beverley. "However, due to my age and treatment being very harsh, I just said, 'Lord, if this is how I'm going to leave this earth, I am going to accept it as it is." She says she left it alone, didn't touch it, and went on with her life. A follow-up doctor's appointment later revealed the cancer had disappeared. "They called it a miracle," said Beverley. "I'm not saying it can't come back. I don't know. But all I know is it's a long time and I'm still free of that problem, and I didn't do what they wanted me to do to get rid of it." Beverley says her goal now is to share her story to remind people that miracles are possible and they are happening all around us. "I need to speak because I need people to understand God is with us," said Beverley. "Our Lord is here with us every single minute of every day, and he makes decisions we don't understand. Sometimes we don't understand things. That's not our place to do. He knows best. That's how I look at life. "I just get goosebumps, you know, when I wake up in the morning, you know, I'm sitting here in the state that I'm in, which is great. I have to let people know that our Lord is there. He's looking after us, and he makes the decision, and whatever he decides is right. It's the best." Beverley says she will continue to talk about Jesus until her last day on this earth.
