The City of Winnipeg has taken all your yard waste and has turned it into compost. Now they want to give it back.

On Saturday, April 22, the City of Winnipeg is celebrating Earth Day by giving away free compost at the Pacific 4R Winnipeg Depot. You will be able to take home 100 litres of compost per vehicle while quantities last.

All the leaf and yard waste collected by the City is taken to the Brady Road Resource Management Facility and turned into compost. The compost meets all Category A standards, which means it's safe to use in all household applications, including vegetable gardens.

Compost is a natural fertilizer that promotes vegetation growth. It's recommended that you mix one part of this compost with three parts soil.
